Installation Notes
Electric tailgate strut replacement is more involved than a standard gas strut — these units integrate the motor, gas spring, and control wiring. Allow 45–60 minutes per side and disconnect the battery before starting to avoid triggering the lift mechanism during install. Most jobs need a Torx driver set. If you're not comfortable with auto electrical work, any auto mechanic can fit these.
Signs You Need New Struts
- Tailgate doesn't lift fully or stops part-way
- Slow, laboured operation or error messages from the lift system
- Loud motor noise or grinding sounds during operation
- One side lifting before the other (uneven lift)
